01/24/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Parker (Denver), CO This 2022 grad shows a grittiness on the ball-field. He buries his nose in the ball defensively with a solid coat of polish on his actions; smooth with tremendous body control. He flashes power at the plate as his exit velocity off a tee at 90mph indicates. He refuses to be cheated and shows agile actions in everything he does on the diamond. We will continue to expect big things from John as he marches into his senior year in the fall of 2021.

05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lakewood (Denver), CO John is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, John shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields in a low position and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. On the mound, John gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. John shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 65-70mph with sinking action. With three more years to develop, John has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) John continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 9. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Colorado Springs, CO John is a lean, athletic 3B/RHP. Defensively at 3B, he takes active routes as he gets into a low/athletic fielding position. He fields GB's smoothly with his backhand and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this RHP works downhill and delivers with loose arm action. He attacks the zone with a 3-pitch mix as he stays directional towards his target. With the stick, John displays a square setup and gets back into a load. He creates consistent contact as he drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Develop soft hands
2. Quicker release
3. Accurate throws
Pitching
1. Get to a balance point
2. Extend through
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out bat path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
