10/03/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ John is a thin, 2-way player that currently projects both behind the plate and at 3B. John blocks and receives the ball well, and he holds a low target. He looks the ball in when receiving, deadens the ball well when blocking, and covers the "5" hole properly. John has a clean exchange from glove to hand, a short arm action, and he throws with accuracy to his target. Abilities behind the plate can improve with a wider base, gaining ground, and adding arm strength. At 3B, John presents his glove well, has soft hands, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He gets rid of the ball quickly and throws with accuracy to his target. If John can add strength, and field the ball further out in front of his body, INF skills will improve. At the plate, John has average balance, bat speed, and a still head. He tracks the ball well, has a level swing, and he can spray to all fields. John will need to liven his hands and use more lower 1/2 in order to improve offensive tool grades.
