10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) John continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved and he shows solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a feel for the barrel.

06/25/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) John continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with a 3B.

10/17/2020 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) John showed up to the Offensive Skills Weekend with improvement in mind. Increasing his 5-10-5 times to both sides, lateral jumps, and broad jump showed his development and maturity as an athlete. At the plate, sets up squared and athletic, comfortable with his rhythm and keeps two eyes fixed on the baseball. Has a solid swing path, directly to the ball with good barrel depth. Gets on plane and with the proper lower half rotation, hard line drives (73 mph exit velo) are the result.

06/23/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Hagerstown, MD John is solid, athletic, 2-way player who plays 3B and OF. In the INF, John has playable hands and feet, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He makes the routine plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with some accuracy across the diamond. In the OF, John has some range and makes the routine plays. Offensively, John has a tall/square set-up, he loads well, and has a short swing path. He finds the barrel, swings on plane, and makes contact. John can improve overall skills with work on the following.

2. Play more through

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
