09/14/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) John does a very good job of attacking the baseball during the swing. He shows potential to attack the baseball in the entire hitting zone, with the ability to use his hands during the swing. In order to become a better hitter John needs to focus on using his entire body during the swing, right now he uses a lot of hands during the swing, which allows him to put the ball in play but doesn't drive the baseball. If John can focus on keeping the back side connected and using it as one unit and now two separate pieces he will see an increase in power and also in barrel control as well. Also he needs to extend through the baseball, at times he would stop the barrel at contact which will take away form his power, he needs to drive the barrel through the baseball and not just to the baseball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
