04/27/2008 - College PREP - Farmingdale, NY John is an athletic, two position guy who projects best in the infield. On the mound, he has good tempo and the ball comes out of his hand with some life. But he tends to rush and fly open. As he learns to stay closed, he will see improvement in the movement on the fastball and location of all of his pitches. With the bat, he has good balance and squares it up fairly well. He has a line drive approach and his head stays down. Would like to see him get more out of the lower half and he tends to choke the bat a bit as well. He has a mature approach in the infield. Plenty of life in his hands and feet. He moves to the ball well and covers a bunch of ground. His exchange is quick and he has a good feel on the backhand. He has plenty of carry on the throw as well. He rushes at times and throws up against his front leg. Getting around the ball (when he can) instead of rushing straight to it will allow him to get more momentum coming through the play to make the throw. Overall, John is very athletic and has good energy in the box and with the glove. Should be a solid college infielder.
