04/29/2018 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA John is a tall, lanky built C/OF prospect who has a well-rounded game. Offensively, John has an athletic stance with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with a long stride. John shows fast bat speed with quick hands. He gets extension at contact and consistently lands the barrel to the baseball. John shows the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. Behind the plate, John has an effective setup and moves swiftly with good body control. He presents a good target and sticks the ball on the corners. He does a nice job blocking the baseball keeping everything in front of himself. John has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has good momentum through his release showing good carry down to 2B. In the outfield, John works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position with firm hands. John has a long exchange leading into a restricted arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent and he is developing arm strength. Overall, John is a versatile prospect who has potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
