Official Scouting Report

  • OFPosition Projection

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 John is a talented OF (6'3/185)in the class of 2023. His make up is off the charts as he is coachable, hustles and is a great teammate. Along with these intangibles, John is equally impressive between the lines. In the OF, he is very polished. He has 1st step quickness (7.2 60yd dash) to track the ball and take proper angles. He routinely puts his body in position to work through the baseball for momentum to his targets. He has high pocket feel and his exchanges are clean. His loose athletic arm action (92 velo) produces accurate throws. Catching the ball at a high point will quicken his transfers. At the plate, John demonstrates explosive bat speed (86 exit velo). He projects to be a gap to gap type hitter based upon his easy and smooth swing path. He has great timing on his hand separation and is balanced during the duration of his swing. John is an impressive prospect who will compete for a starting spot on a college roster after graduation.

09/19/2021 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA JR is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. In the OF, he shows quick/fluid feet, with good agility, and ability to cover ground in all directions. 1st reads enable him to create good fielding angles and shows a sure glove. Is aggressive downhill and fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Works behind and through baseball with active feet during process. Has a quick release on his balls into infield from a high 3/4 release point with an arm velocity up to 85mph. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance. Does a good job of keeping his head on ball and has natural lift to swing with quick hands. He hits into a firm front side and has a fast bat through hitting zone. A flat barrel path enables him to hit balls hard to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 91mph during BP. With 2 more years of growth and development, JR should have opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
