10/04/2015 - College PREP - Spokane, WA John is an athletic 3B that will graduate in 2018. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic / squared setup. Hands are quick / aggressive and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase has works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. In the IF, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands and proper footwork. He communicates well and plays with high energy. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.40 60 time. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, John has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
