Official Scouting Report

  • 6Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

06/23/2019 - College PREP - Hagerstown, MD John is a long, solid, RHP who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, John has good balance over the rubber and a loose arm circle. He separates his hands on time, lands with good direction toward home plate, and competes in the zone with his pitches. Abilities on the mound can improve if John can quicken his tempo, get more extension on his pitches, and soften his landing. Offensively, John has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He makes square contact, finds the barrel, and he uses his lower body. A looser grip, letting the ball travel deeper, and not dropping his hands can help hitting numbers get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
