Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament John continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Preseason All American event. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he utilizes his aggressive feet as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with online carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. John has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

11/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Indianapolis, IN John is an OF who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF, works to keep ball in front with ability to cover ground in all directions. He attacks the ball and fields ball out front with a good glove angle. Made on-lie throws from a low 3/4 arm slot, with a short arm action, and an arm velocity up to 76mph into infield. At the plate, he starts with an athletic and closed stance. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. A small hand load, with good separation, and a good lower half turn. Hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 73mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
