01/26/2014 - College PREP - San Diego, CA John is a left handed swinging SS who has a middle infielder type frame. Defensively, he shows active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He is fundamentally sound and has athletic actions. Playing through the ball will help to improve abilities at SS. At the plate, this lefty shows a square setup with good rhythm in his hands. He delivers the barrel quickly and creates extension through the zone. More lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power at the plate. John is a solid all-around player and should find success this upcoming season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
