11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Johnathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.45. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball shows tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Johnathan is a C/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame thin build with some strength present and room to add. At C, he tracks pitches well and has a relaxed glove. Tries to center ball on his blocks and tucked chin. Long arm action, with high 3/4 arm slot, and throws were accurate/on-line with an arm velocity of 64mph and a best pop time of 2.5 seconds. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher has a good attitude and finishes in a good fielding position. Throws a FB that sits 61-62mph, a 10/4 shaped slider with good command, and a developing changeup. SL was best pitch during his bullpen. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. Showed ability to track pitches and make contact to the opposite field with a bat exit of velocity of 66mph during BP. With continued growth and development, Johnathan could have a good high school career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
