12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Johnny continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the Academic All-American showcase. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 81-84 mph with plus arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows good mound presence and competes on the bump. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

06/23/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wilmington, DE Johnny continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.39 runner. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around the ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential is outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

02/20/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD Johnny continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Johnny gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate. Johnny shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph. Breaking ball sits from 68-69mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct swing with explosive bat speed, producing to loud line drives. Overall, Johnny is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - East Hampton (Hartford), CT Johnny is a tall RHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Johnny shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 65-66mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Johnny be more controlled throughout his delivery. In the field, Johnny shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields with a firm glove and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry through his target. Johnny can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and shows smooth rhythm. He works through a level swing and produces consistent contact and line drives. Driving his lower half more can help Johnny generate more pop off the barrel. Overall, Johnny is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Johnny is a coachable RHP/C prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. On the mound, Johnny keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Johnny has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph. Breaking ball sits from 51-55mph with 11-5 break. Johnny can improve as a pitcher by finishing with his chest over his front knee. Behind the plate, Johnny shows a good set up and gets under the ball well, receiving with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, getting good carry through his target. Johnny can improve defensively by getting down earlier when blocking balls to his arm side. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Johnny can improve as a hitter by consistently staying back on the ball. With four more years to develop, Johnny has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Johnny continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.52 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and improve his lateral movements. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 59-63 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/09/2017 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend PHS- Columbia, MD Johnny is a talented, and coachable prospect that made several adjustments to further his skills at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Johnny starts in an athletic stance and stays balanced through contact. He uses his lower half, stays on plane, and has good bat speed. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keeping his head down through contact will allow him to have more consistent hard contact. Maintaining rhythm will keep Johnny on time as well. Johnny will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Johnny is a solid RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty shows a plus delivery as he comes to a balance point over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose, clean arm action and drives his lower half towards the plate. Johnny has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 10-4 break. Changeup ranges from 57-58mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Johnny can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With five more years to develop, Johnny has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

08/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE Johnny is a C/RHP who will graduate in 2022. Defensively behind the plate, he sits low with active feet. He receives pitches with soft hands and has a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this RHP gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action as he works in line and finishes strong towards home plate. With the bat, Johnny displays a square setup and gets back into a good load. He swings aggressively through the zone and drives pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
