07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jonas continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

06/03/2018 - College PREP - Folsom (Sacramento), CA Jonas is an OF graduating in 2021. In the field, Jonas shows active feet that allow him to gain ground and get good reads on the ball. He gets into a square fielding position when making plays and shows firm hands, using a glove lane when charging. Jonas shows a loose arm action (high 3/4 arm slot) and makes consistently accurate throws to his target. Jonas can improve defensively by creating better angles to the ball and by working on making quicker transfers into his throws. At the plate, Jonas shows a line drive, spray type approach. He shows an athletic set up with a square stride. Rhythm is smooth as he keeps his balance center and keeps a firm front half when swinging. Jonas shows fast bat speed and makes consistently hard contact with the ball. Jonas can improve offensively by implementing a back-side hand load and by utilizing more of his lower half. Jonas is a talented player with plenty of time to improve his game. With another three years of development and added strength from natural growth, Jonas can play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
