Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This projectable RHP continues to impress. He takes the mound with intent and is ready to challenge hitters. He works quickly and pounds the zone. FB jumps out of his hand and onto hitters, cracking the mitt at 88 mph. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape with sharp action. Changeup has good drop and will get GB outs. As a hitter, he stands in all with centered balance and rhythm to load. He gets into a strong launch position, fires the barrel and connects with power driving the ball from gap to gap. Clark is a talented prospect who will compete at a very high level.

06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Jonathan is a lean built 3B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Jonathan has a square, athletic setup with a centered balance and quiet head. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride. Jonathan has an on-plane swing path and gets good extension at contact. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball and has a middle of the field approach. Jonathan has the power to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Jonathan plays with effective footwork and takes the correct angles to cover ground in each direction laterally. He gets around the baseball and presents his glove as he fields the ball in an athletic, square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with good strength across the diamond. On the mound, Jonathan works downhill with a balance, on-time delivery throwing from an over the top arm slot. He extends through his release with a free arm action staying square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his core and finishing towards his target. Jonathan's curveball has good depth and his changeup is deceptive with arm side run. Overall, Jonathan has talent on both sides of the ball and good potential to get even better.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jonathan is a solid 2-way player (3B/RHP) who can make things happen in a variety of ways. Defensively at 3B, he shows active footwork and works around the GB into a square/athletic fielding position. He presents his glove, funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this righty maintains a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. On the mound, Clark fires a 3-pitch mix from a high 3/4 arm slot. The ball comes out slightly deceptive and keeps hitters off balance. FB ranges from 79-81 mph with good cutting action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with early action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed, complimenting his FB well. This 2018 grad has a solid all-around skill-set and should find success in this his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
