Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Deeble is a strong (6'0"/210) 2-way player who continues to show well. As a hitter - this righty stands in well with centered balance and a strong base. Swing is direct to and through the zone with speed as squares the ball up consistently. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and absolutely crushes it (exit velocity = 93 mph) sending the ball for a ride. At 1B, Jonathan has active prep footwork and moves well for a big guy. He works low (from the ground-up) and tracks GB's into a soft/sure mitt. On the mound, this RHP works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and attacks hitters. He is around the zone with all of his pitches throwing strikes. FB shows slight tail - now topping out at 81 mph. Breaking ball shows good action with 10/4 shape. Jonathan is a versatile player who can make things happen in many aspects of the game.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jonathan is a skilled 2-way player (1B/RHP) who has a strong build (6'0"/210). At 1B, he has active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He has good bag awareness adjusting right and left quickly. He has soft hands with the ability to go get it and pick it. At the plate, this RHH has rhythm to work back into a loaded position. Swing is level as he squares it up and drives it on a line. He had some very good at-bats, battling and showing a solid 2-strike approach. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & CB from a slightly deceptive 3/4 arm slot. He drives off the rubber with his lower 1/2 and works downhill toward the dish. FB tops out at 79 mph while showing slight sink. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action. He keeps his pitches down in the zone resulting in a lot of GB outs. Deeble is a well-rounded athlete who should find success on the diamond as he enters his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
