12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jonathan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. Throws are accurate with carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/18/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Jonathan is a solid, athletic OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his foot quickness (7.32 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-80 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Jonathan has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
