06/05/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Perhaps the most complete all-around catching prospect in the class, Jonathan checks many of the scouting boxes for the position. He has a strong, durable frame with flexibility and solid receiving and blocking skills. He also has a quick release and a strong, accurate arm that shuts down the running game. At the plate Jonathan has a rhythmic, natural RH stroke with flashes of power and an excellent feel for the barrel. Add in a 6.87 in the 60 and there is athleticism to go with the skills.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jonathan has really improved his baseball abilities since the last time we seen him. This powerful RHH backstop continues to shine. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.90 range. He will control the running game with his quick feet and arm. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he con-nects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat. He has the makings of a solid 2019 draft prospect.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Jonathan is a great teammate who genuinely enjoys playing the game and he always does what is asked of him. Behind the plate Jonathan is very athletic, showed sure hands, and a quick release. He can improve by receiving the ball out front and continue to polish his blocking skills. At the plate Jonathan displayed good balance and bat speed but he can improve by staying inside the ball, use lower half more, and aggressively finish the swing. Jonathan possesses the physical tools to be a very good player in the future if he continues to work hard and make necessary adjustments.

06/02/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Atlanta, GA Jon is a tall, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Jon has firm hands, fluid footwork, and he tracks the ball well. He moves well laterally, his exchange is quick, and he throws with accuracy to his target. In the OF, Jon has active feet, sure hands, and he takes good angles to the ball. Offensively, Jon has an open set-up, good balance, and a level swing. Abilities can further improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Quiet actions
2. Blocking
3. Long toss
Outfield
1. Avoid drifting
2. Finish throws
Offense
1. Lower 1/2
2. Square up stance

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
