Official Scouting Report

Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jonathan improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.34. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/29/2018 - College PREP - Washington, DC Jonathan lowered pop times and showed solid catching abilities during his last workout with The Factory. Pop times were as low as 2.25, showing soft hands, quick feet, and a low/athletic set-up. Jonathan sticks the ball, uses his body to block, and throws with accuracy and momentum to 2nd base. In the OF, Jonathan has active footwork, he goes back on the ball well, and plays through ground balls properly. He throws with a short/quick arm, with solid direction to his target. At the plate, Jonathan has good balance, a repeatable swing, and solid bat speed. He swings on plane and can spray the baseball to all fields.

03/18/2018 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Jonathan is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.44 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone but needs to widen his stance and needs to utilize his body more through the blocking process. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Jonathan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
