11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Jonathan is a young 3B/SS that will graduate in 2023. At the hot corner, Jonathan works hard to get to the ball and get to a squared fielding position. As he fields his exchanges are clean and works to throw creating momentum to the target. His arm action is short as he delivers the throw showing a + DP feed. Working on arm strength and foot speed will improve Jonathan as a fielder overall. At the plate, Jonathan sets up in a tall and open stance with comfortable hands. He gets his foot down on time with controlled movements and fires his lower half through getting the barrel on plane with smooth rhythm. He makes consistent contact to all fields showing a gap to gap approach in game. Jonathan is a young player and will continue to develop and mature as he gets older, we look forward to seeing his progress.

09/08/2019 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Jonathan is an athletic SS who will graduate in 2023. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Working to get stride down sooner to work on time will aid in improving hitting grades. With 3 years to further develop, Jonathan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
