Official Scouting Report

  • 7Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

09/01/2019 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Jonathan is a tall/thin RHP/OF who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, Jonathan keeps his eyes on the catchers target and separates his hands on time. He has a clean arm circle, he works well to his balance point, and has a proper length stride toward home plate. Working from the windup, more arm extension, and not falling off can help mound effectiveness get better. In the OF, Jonathan make the routine plays, he fields squarely, and his arm is short and accurate to his cut off man. Jonathan will need to quicken feet, play lower, and finish off his throws in order for OF skills to get better. Offensively, Jonathan has a square stance, good balance, and he makes contact gap to gap. More load, a shorter swing, and tapping into his lower body will help hitting numbers improve.

09/08/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Jonathan is a tall, athletic RHP who will graduate in 2020. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and works in line to his target. Fastball showed a range of 65-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Jonathan has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
