09/28/2022 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic (2023) Jonathan is a 2023 LHP/1B who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. At 1B, Jonathan worked to center the baseball and presents a big target at first base. He tries to create good fielding angles and tracks ball to glove. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot to second base with an arm velocity up to 85mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with high hand set. He activates his hands and gets extended through the hitting zone with a good barrel path. A flat barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph during BP. During the games, he had a single and 2 base on balls. A left-handed pitcher he works exclusively from the stretch. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot and has some deception to his delivery. A 4-pitch pitcher who mixes his pitches and has good command. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 80mph, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, a 2/8 shaped slider, and a changeup with good sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. In 4 innings of work, he didn't allow a hit and punched out 2 hitters. Jonathan is a 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/23/2022 - All-In Membership - North Branford, CT Jonathan is a can’t miss 1B/LHP prospect on the 2023 class. He has an outstanding frame (6’4/208) with room to grow. At 1B, he has advanced awareness and works well around the bag. He presents his glove well and is capable of making all the routine plays. He can redirect the baseball with fluid transfers and loose arm actions. Once he becomes comfortable on adjusting his footwork based upon the hop, he has the potential to become an elite defender. On the mound, he has a clean repeatable delivery with outstanding backside hip load and arm action. He works downhill and can pound the zone. He operates with a 3-pitch mix. His FB topped at 80 with arm side run. His CB sat 65-66 with 1/7 shape and depth. His CH sat 72-74. Once he establishes his natural fastball arm speed on his CH, he will be able to add more deception to the pitch. At the plate, Johathan can generate power (89 exit velo). He has above average bat speed and a direct path to the baseball with pull side power. Shows solid balance by staying centered in his swing. Widening his base may assist with his timing and rhythm to unlock power to the backside gap. Overall, Johnathan is an above average two-way prospect that is only scratching the surface of becoming major force on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
