12/09/2018 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Jonathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.16. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft and he sticks balls well in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/10/2017 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Jonathan is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate skills are solid. Jonathan sits in low and athletically, feet are quick and fluid, and he moves well laterally. He blocks and receives well, has quiet actions, and throws with carry to 2nd base from a short/loose arm action. If Jonathan can stay relaxed, add arm strength, and continue to work on fundamentals, catching abilities can get better. Offensively, Jonathan has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has a direct barrel, makes square contact, and he works the middle of the field. More load, lower , and better timing will help hitting grades spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
