Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Jonathan is a well-built 2020 OF/RHP prospect with good baseball instincts and the determination to improve. He shows off natural hitting instincts at the dish with a feel for the strike zone and a patient approach to get the pitch he wants a do damage with it. His setup is square and athletic with an on time stride and load to a stacked position. He stays short and direct to the ball with a level path and is able to make consistent, line drive contact, shown by a 7/11 weekend at the plate. In the outfield, he displays active footwork and agile movements to run down fly balls. He stays low to the ground to field with his hands out front and has a clean exchange to throw with momentum to his target. On the hill, this right hander has a clean delivery with rhythm and balance to bring his knee up high and separate on time as he works down the mound. He is a fastball pitcher from a 3/4 arm slot and works to get ahead in the count with the fastball that sits in the mid 60's with cut. Strengthening his front side will allow him to stay in line to the plate longer and result in better command. Jonathan is a player we look forward to evaluating as he continues his progression.

10/09/2016 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Jonathan is a lean built OF prospect with good potential who graduates in 2020. In the outfield, Jonathan plays with effective footwork and has good range. He does a nice job getting behind the baseball to field it squarely and has a clean exchange. Jonathan has a loose arm action from a 3/4 slot and is building arm strength. As a right-handed hitter, Jonathan has an athletic stance with a square stride as his lower half leads the way. He has a good load with smooth rhythm and centered balance. Jonathan's swing path is on plane as he flashes quick bat speed. He shows potential power to the pull side. Jonathan is a developing prospect with a bright future as he continues to polishes his skill set.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
