02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Jonathan is a talented catcher that showed he can be a defensive wall behind the plate and deliver at the dish offensively. Catching, he sets up in a strong stance and presents a confident glove for the pitcher receiving with a quiet glove. On a throw to 2B, Jonathan gains ground and makes clean transfers as he delivers the throw to the bag with accuracy and carry. Blocking, he shows good range in both directions keeping the ball in front and recovering quickly. Hitting, he sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled load keeping his weight centered. Jonathan works hard to get on plane and makes consistent contact working a line drive approach to all fields. Jonathan shows to be a serviceable catcher at the next level and will continue to develop.

01/10/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Jacksonville, FL Jonathan is a tall, athletic C who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.03 range with accuracy / carry (80 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. Jonathan has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
