12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jonathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.10 runner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he had a great tournament going 5-7 with 2 2B. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork as he plays through the ball. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-79 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late, sharp break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/09/2022 - All-In Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Jonathan is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Jonathan shows active footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with a firm glove. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He works through a short swing with fast bat speed, spraying the ball to all fields. Overall, Jonathan is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
