06/16/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Tacoma, WA Jonathan raised arm velocity to 59 MPH and showed well defensively during his last workout with The Factory. At 1st base, Jonathan has active feet and a good 1st step to the ball. He has a presentable glove, fields aggressively, and throws with momentum toward his target. In the OF, Jonathan tracks well and makes plays consistently. He has firm hands, a solid crow hop, and a loose arm action to his cut off man. Offensively, Jonathan stands in athletically and loads well. He has some separation and work the ball well to the opposite field.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jonathan is a coachable 1B/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Jonathan takes a good first step and displays quick footwork. He makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Jonathan improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is on time getting into a small load and hits agains a strong font side. He takes a smooth swing and makes solid contact. Jonathan can improve as a hitter by increasing his bat speed. With six more years to develop, Jonathan has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Jonathan is a young, 2-way player who hits from the left side. In the OF, Jonathan has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he attacks aggressively. He takes good routes, stays behind the ball well, and throws with a loose arm action to his target. In the INF, Jonathan has good actions, efficient footwork, and firm hands with a loose arm action to his target. At the plate, Jonathan has a square set-up, good balance, and he hits from an athletic base. He swings on plane and can hit to the opposite field. Overall skills can get better if Jonathan can work on the following,

1. Avoid drifting
2. Release
3. Arm strength
1. Arm strength
2. Quicken feet

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
