01/29/2023 - National Showcase - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Jonathan continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 3B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean are firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/27/2022 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jonathan continues show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Southwest 17u Tournament. In the field, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 8 with a 3B and 2 RBI. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work clean to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-80 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He competes and shows good mound presence. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/12/2022 - All-In Membership - Visalia, CA Jonathan is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. At 3B, starts with quick/fluid footwork and has good body control at the baseball. Works from right to left and fields from a low fielding position with a quick transfer. Has a long arm stroke in back, with ability to throw from multiple arm slots, and an arm velocity up to 84mph across the diamond. Made accurate and on-line throws with a quick release. On the mound, he has a compact delivery and works down the mound with good direction. He separates his hands on-time and has a clean arm stroke. He throws a FB that sits 75-78mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that he throws with good arm speed, and a slider with 11/5 shape and tight spin. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Lower half driven swing, with a square glide step, and keeps his weight between his knees. Showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone as he hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
