08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Jonathan continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved though a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays proper footwork around as he works around and squares balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 65-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He throws a slider that is harder with 11/5 shape. Knuckleball shows slight downward action but needs more development. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player.

06/25/2018 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Jonathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Fastball showed range of 69-71 mph with sinking. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he locates to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, defensive abilities are now well above average as he shows smooth clean actions. He displays proper footwork in creating proper angles in attacking and playing through balls with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/10/2017 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Jonathan is a young, 2-way player who pitches and plays SS. On the mound, Jonathan stands over the rubber well, he keeps his eyes on target, and has a clean arm action. He works well to his balance point, gets good extension on his pitches, and lands in a controlled position. Jonathan can improve on the mound with better separation, finishing in a better position, and adding arm strength. At SS, Jonathan has quick/fluid feet, agile movements to the ball, and soft hands. He has good pre-pitch actions, fields in a low position, and throws with accuracy across the diamond. Looser actions, a shorter arm action, and staying relaxed throughout release can help defensive numbers get better. Offensively, Jonathan has a square set-up, a good base, and a proper hand load. He puts the bat on the ball and can spray to all fields. Hitting can improve if Jonathan can transfer his weight better, swing more aggressively, and add bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
