Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jordan is a strong, two-way player who competes every time he touches the field. He has an athletic stance at the plate and gets to a power position with his load. He uses his hips well to generate power and has a high finish that leads to some present pop with the potential for more. On the mound, he is a bulldog who wants the ball and attacks hitters with strikes. He has some deception in his delivery and he finishes in line to the plate. Jordan is a solid prospect who has a lot of potential on the field.

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Jordan showed as both a 1B and LHP at his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. On the mound, he located his pitches well, spun his CB with late break, and showed a palm CH with sink. He was short and quick with his backside arm action and got to a good release point for all pitches, not differentiating arm speeds for plus deception. He kept runners on well, varying looks and holds, and was consistent with his tempo. Defensively at 1B, he was sure handed and worked to a god fielding position on-time. He would benefit from speeding up his feet and working them pre-pitch. Offensively, he tracked well and had good rhythm to hit. He showed a contact approach, worked inside the ball, and collected 3 singles during the tournament. Overall - Jordan is a loose personality that has good dugout presence and a competitive nature.

04/19/2015 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Jordan is an athletic 2-way player as a LHP/1B. On the bump, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and works in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 69-72 mph while showing slight sink. He keeps the ball down in the zone and throws it for strikes consistently. Curveball has 2/8 shape with sharp action (56-58 mph). Changeup is best off-speed pitch as he throws it with FB arm speed helping to create deception. Finishing more out over his front side with extension will help to improve effectiveness on all of his pitches. At 1B, Jordan shows active/efficient footwork as he works around the GB and into a square fielding position. He makes the backhand play smoothly and gathers well. He is sure handed and can pick throws out of the dirt. Presenting his glove and fielding the GB more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hops. Offensively, this lefty displays a closed stance with good balance. He swings on a level path, squares the ball up and drives it to the gaps. Only a 2017 grad - Jordan has a solid skill-set and will make an impact in many facets of the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
