11/10/2011 - Pirate City Select Training - 2011 (Pre HS) Jordan Godsey is a 2016 graduate who plays first base and also pitches. He throws from a low 3/4 slot and will sometimes short arm his throws. In the infield Jordan showed the willingness to learn and he continued to get better through the whole camp. His hands are unsure at times, his footwork is active, and his range will develop with more reps. He needs to stay in line with his footwork which will allow a better path on fielding ground balls. On the mound Jordan is a tall Left Handed Pitcher who shows goods balance with level shoulders. He stays in line with his finish, but finishes straight up. He is late with the separation of his hands and this causes his whole rhythm to be off with his leg lift and his drive. If he develops a consistent rhythm he will continue to get stronger and become a big pitcher with a better mound presence. At the plate Jordan is a right handed hitter who has an athletic set up with a short stride. He involves his lower half but needs to have a better bat bath to make more consistent contact. Has a nice swing, but needs to get his best swing off every time and swing at quality pitches. Jordan has the body and ability to become a very good player at the next level. In all aspects of the game he needs to become more assertive and trust himself and this will change his whole mentality and he will surprise himself once he puts all his skills together.
