01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jordan is a corner infielder who can swing it. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 96 mph). At 3B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (85 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. A projectable 3B - Jordan can play at a high level and make an instant impact.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Matthews continues to impress. With the bat, this strong righty takes an aggressive hack with authority and squares the ball up consistently. The ball explodes off of his barrel to the gaps with an exit velocity of 95 mph. He has a good eye for the zone, proven is his game AB's as he drew 4 walks. At 3B, Jordan has athletic actions and moves quickly through the GB from right to left. Hands are soft/sure with a quick transfer to throw. A 2019 grad with upside, Jordan is one to keep an eye on.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Jordan continues to show improvements and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.12. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved. He has strength (96 mph exit velocity) in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, he displays quick/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and he presents well out front. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. 11/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Midland, TX Jordan is a young 3B/C who will graduate in 2019. In the field, Jordan has active feet as he covers ground to field the ball. He fields with firms hands and has a clean exchange to throw from a high 3/4 angle. His throws are consistently accurate and carry through his target. Jordan can improve at 3B by being more aggressive when fielding ground balls. Behind the plate, Jordan displays active feet and is very agile when blocking dirt balls. He has a quick exchange to throw with a short arm action from a high 3/4 angle. His quick release allows his throws to remain on-line and carry through his target. Jordan can improve as a C by presenting his hands more out front when receiving the ball. In the box, Jordan sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He gets back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing path to the ball with explosive bat speed which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Jordan can improve as a hitter by keeping his head on the ball throughout his swing. Overall, Jordan is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jordan showed in the OF and behind the plate at the Preseason All American Rookie event. In the OF, he reads and tracks balls well and made several great catches in the OF. Behind the plate, he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.08. He has arm strength as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy/carry on his throws. At the plate, he utilizes his lower half well and whips the barrel through the zone. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he works to stay inside the ball, displaying gap to gap pop. Jordan is very coachable and is a gamer on the field as he never gives up and motivates teammates around him.

06/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series Jordan continues to shine on the diamond. This RHH is a pure swinger who put on a show during his time at the CWS Training Event. He has fluid rhythm in his hands and whips the barrel with speed & strength to and through the zone. He connects with pop and hits 'lasers' to all parts of the field. In the OF, Jordan gets good jumps off the bat and tracks down fly-balls with speed. He secures the ball with 2-hands and fires strong throws (80 mph) with carry into his target. Jordan is a versatile athlete who can play multiple spots on the field. He has a ton of upside and will make things happen on the diamond. Jordan is one to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

03/15/2015 - National Tryout - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Matthews showed as an OF plus at SS for the first time and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting grades have improved, now showing solid abilities. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the baseball, displaying gap to gap pop. Defensively, his hands work well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally and shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds and turns of the double play. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles as he makes the routine plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. He gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Matthews has a bright future on the diamond.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Jordan has the ability to play at a high level on both sides of the ball. On defense he shows great versatility, with the ability to play any spot in the outfield, and also the athleticism to play in the infield. Jordan displays fantastic footwork in the outfield, getting to and through the baseball with a quick transition to throw, and constantly playing downhill. To make the next step as an outfielder Jordan needs to continue to take reps and working on his first step to the baseball. At the plate Jordan displays the ability to be a big time hitter. He shows electric hands with the ability to stay inside the baseball naturally. Jordan has a great combination of natural strength, quick hands, and the ability to use his entire body during the swing, allowing him to hit the baseball hard to all fields. Jordan has a bright future in the game, and needs to continue to work hard and improve at all aspects of the game. Jordan also pitched a few innings during the weekend, showing the ability to throw strikes and pitch to contact. He displayed natural athleticism on the mound with good direction and a naturally strong arm.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
