12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Jorge is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. In the field, Jorge shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Taking a quicker first step can help Jorge improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a compact swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Jorge can improve as a hitter by being more aggressive. Overall, Jorge is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/06/2019 - College PREP - Austin, TX Jorge is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Jorge shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in a low position and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Presenting his hands to the ball sooner can help Jorge improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact and line drives. Getting more hand separation can help Jorge improve as a hitter. Overall, Jorge is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
