06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jorge is a long and athletic SS/3B. In the field Jorge was athletic and showed active footwork with good BH/GS range. He fielded the ball low and square with clean exchanges. He works toward his target and has a loose arm action delivering strong, accurate throws around the diamond. At the plate Jorge sets up in a square and athletic stance with high hands. His rhythm is fluid and works hard to drive the ball with potential to really drive the ball to all fields. Working on staying on his backside should help Jorge be able to do so. Jorge was a great teammate and was a student of the game. He has several more years to grow and get stronger.

04/14/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Modesto, CA Jorge worked out at SS during his last workout with The Factory. He is a lean/scrappy SS with solid skills. Defensively, Jorge has fluid feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low position. He works around the ball well, fields aggressively, and throws with consistency from a short/quick arm to his target. Offensively, Jorge has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and quick hands. He is a line drive hitter with good bat speed, and he taps into some lower body. Jorge ran his fastest 60 to date at the workout, clocked at 7.35 seconds.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Jorge continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jorge continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power is best shown to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Jorge is a lean, athletic built shortstop prospect who has a talented skill set. In the field, Jorge plays with active footwork and moves well in each direction laterally. He fields the ball in a low position with soft hands and shows a smooth backhand. Jorge has a quick exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong throws across the diamond. Offensively, Jorge has a tall setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a long stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jorge shows the ability to go with the ball to the opposite field. He does have the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. Overall, Jorge is well-rounded prospect who has the skill and approach to give him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
