11/13/2016 - College PREP - Davie, FL Jorge is a lean RHP/OF who will graduate in 2018. On the bump, this righty throws a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot and loose/free arm action. He works through a strong balance point and has smooth overall actions. FB ranges from 76-78 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual break with depth. Arm speed is maintained on changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.13. In the OF, he shows smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He is aggressive and gets behind balls with his feet / body, playing through with momentum to target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers of ground. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Jorge has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
