At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball shows a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.
02/17/2018 - So Cal Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 12-14)
Jose continued to show improvements during his time at the So Cal Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with explosive bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives to the gaps. Jose can improve as a hitter by consistently staying short in his load. With five more years to develop, Jose has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.
12/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Thousand Oaks, CA
Jose is a thin, 2-way player who currently projects best at SS. Defensively, Jose works around the ball well, he presents his glove well, and his exchange is clean. He takes good angles, fields from a solid base, and throws with consistency from a short arm action to his target. On the mound, Jose stands over the rubber well, he has a loose arm action, and lands in a square position. He competes in the zone and has more left in the tank to show. At the plate, Jose has a tall set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He has loose separation, good rotation, and gets some extension through the ball. Jose can progress with work on the following.
Defense
1. Play more through
2. Backhand
3. Attack more aggressively
Pitching
1. Extension
2. Finish completely
3. Arm strength
Hitting
1. Level off swing
2. Stay relaxed

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14)
Jose is a lean 2023 two-way player who shows a high baseball IQ and is a good team leader. He shows a very strong arm from short to make long throws and also uses it on the mound. He has fluid feet in the field with athletic actions to move well laterally and surround the ball to field. He is athletic to field, playing through the ball to throw with momentum and his strong arm across the diamond. At the plate, he sets up square and athletically with a simple load and on time stride with his front foot. His lower half generates fast bat speed through the zone and he makes hard contact to all fields. On the mound, he shows a quick, clean arm to get whip and flash advanced stuff. He has control of his pitches to stay around the plate and has deception in his delivery to keep hitters off balance. Staying upright in his delivery will lead to a more consistent release point. Jose is an exciting, talented prospect we look forward to following.

FB tops out at 66 mph while showing some tailing action. As a hitter, Jose shows a square setup with loose actions.
