12/04/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Jose is an OF/SS in the 2023 class. Jose is an athlete who has run as fast as a 6.99 in the 60 yard dash with Baseball Factory. In the OF, he has active feet and covers ground well. He has agile movements and works to get behind and work through the baseball. Has pocket feel and transitions into a short high ¾ arm slot. His feeds back to the dirt are accurate and on-line to his targets. Working to quicken his field to release and eliminate steps will increase his ability to erase extra-bases for runners. On the dirt, his hands and feet are in sync and he squares his body to the baseball. Has solid glove presentation and his exchanges are clean. Feeds are consistent from an over-the-top release. In the box, he is compact and works to keep his hands inside of the baseball. His eyes stay quiet and uses a direct path to the baseball for line drive production to both gaps. Overall, Jose is a solid two-way player and can make a contribution to a college program.

09/28/2022 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic (2023) Jose is rounding out nicely as he heads into his last high school season this upcoming spring. At the Senior Fall Classic, he broke 7 seconds in the 60 yard dash by a hair coming in at 6.99 seconds. In the outfield he shows active footwork with quick-twitch movements. He has a quick, clean arm action culminating in consistent accuracy to his target. At the plate, he is quiet with his approach getting his hips and hands through the zone. Jose is an engaged and athletic ballplayer that has the potential to take his skills to the next level.

12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Jose ran his best 60 yard dash to date coming in at an even 7.00 seconds at the Baseball Factory Academic All-American. Defensively, Jose creates angles and works through the ball properly giving him additional carry on his throws (arm strength now up to 80mph). His exit velocity at the plate now up to 83mph from the right side and his left-handed swing has made strides since our last viewing. From both sides of the plate, he displays a level bat path and uses the whole field with late whip to the ball. Jose continues to impress with his improvements every time we see him.

07/21/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 16U Jose continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he plays through ground balls. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Jose continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. In the field, Jose makes the routine plays and throws from a high 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Jose improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives to all fields. Jose can improve as a hitter by activating his hands more in his load. On the mound, Jose gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows good confidence and works to keep his pitches around the zone. His fastball tops out at 54mph with tailing action. Loosening his arm action can help Jose improve as a pitcher. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
