Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) JB is a tall, lean C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times 2.20 - 2.44 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to keep glove down to cover all holes. At the plate, he shows a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, JB has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
