Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Joseph is a RHP/C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Joseph gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes square to his target. Joseph shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 66mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 54-58mph with 10-4 break. Loosening his arm action can help Joseph improve his pitch command and velocity. Behind the plate, Joseph sits in a good stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. Joseph can improve his pitch framing by sitting in a wider stance. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets back into his load well. He drives his lower half through and produces solid contact to all fields. Joseph can barrel up more baseballs by taking a more level swing path. With four more years to develop, Joseph has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/26/2020 - National Tryout Plus - San Jose, CA Joseph worked out at SS and in the OF during his last workout in San Jose. At SS, Joseph has quick feet, agile range, and he presents his glove well. He takes good angles to the ball, fields cleanly, and has a long/accurate arm across the diamond. In the OF, Joseph has quick feet, he goes back on fly balls well, and plays through. He gains momentum and throws with accuracy to his cut off man. Offensively, Joseph has a square stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, a direct swing path, and he can spray to all fields. Joseph improved hitting and power grades to 32 and 30 during the workout.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Joe is a coachable RHP/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. On the mound, Joe gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Joe shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph. Breaking ball sits from 44-47mph with 10-4 break. Lengthening his arm action can help Joe improve as a pitcher. In the field. Joe makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Joe can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He shows a controlled rhythm and produces solid line drives. Driving his lower half more can help Joe improve as a hitter. With five more years to develop, Joe has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

At 3B, Joseph has active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and he centers the ball well. He fields athletically, his exchange is quick, and he throws with some momentum toward his target. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
