01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Bowers is an athletic catcher who showed well during his time in Arizona. Behind the plate, he sits in well with flexion and athletic actions. He is quick laterally to body up pitches in the dirt, centering them off of his chest. Throws to 2B are on the bag coming from a smooth transfer/exchange as he gains ground - pop times now at 2.05. Offensively, this righty stands in with centered balance and quiet actions. He whips the barrel on a level path, squaring it up and driving the middle of the field. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered - posting an exit velocity of 93 mph. Foot speed has improved as he now runs an impressive 6.88 60 yard dash - which will aid in his speed around the bases. Bowers has a ton of upside (a 2018 grad) and will be one to watch over the next couple of years.

09/06/2015 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Joseph is a lean, lanky catcher that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.05 60 time. Behind the plate, feet are quick / active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Top pop time was 2.06 with accuracy and on line carry on his throws as he displays solid arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. With 3 years to further develop, Joseph has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
