Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Lake Charles, LA Joseph is a 2026 2B/RHP prospect with an athletic frame at 5'6" 120 pounds. At second, he does well to make all the routine plays. He's a very vocal player and does a good job of being a leader on the field. He presents his hands out in front on ground balls and has a solid glove angle on backhand plays. He shows off a quick exchange and makes throws over to first with a long, over the top arm action. He works hard to get low on ground balls and not bend at the waist. At the plate, he starts in an athletic, closed stance. He tracks the ball well and keeps his head still throughout his approach. He projects as a contact hitter that can utilize all parts of the field. Works hard to finish his swing strong and drive the baseball. Excited to see more of Joseph's development over the next 3+ years of high school ball!

06/24/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (MS) Joseph played 2nd base during his time at the BF Select Training. He is a thin player with improving skills. Defensively, Joseph has a good approach to the ball through playable footwork. He gets good reads off the bat, fields out in front, and can throw from multiple arm slots with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Joseph has a square/relaxed approach, a soft/square stride, and high hands. He swings on plane, makes consistent contact, and shows the ability to hit the ball the other way.

04/03/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Lake Charles, LA Joseph is a 2B/RHP out of Jonesville, LA in the class of 2026. Defensively, he worked hard to get square to the baseball and work from the ground up. He tracked the ball well to his glove when fielding. He could benefit from staying low throughout the fielding process and into the throw to have more accurate throws to his target. At the plate, he used an open stance with a quiet load to keep his head still. He tracked the ball well and had great zone awareness. His tried to get on plane with the pitch and work a middle of the field approach. Joseph could benefit from utilizing his lower half more in his swing to develop more solid contact and power. With three more years to develop, Joseph has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/30/2021 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Joseph continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

03/21/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Tomball (Houston), TX Joseph is a 2026 2B/RHP. Small frame lean build with some athleticism to his actions. Joseph has improved all facets of his game since the last time we saw him. Primary 2B showed ability to stay in front of ball and make routine plays. Tracks ball into glove with accurate throws to first base. Showed good touch on DP feeds. Secondary right-handed pitcher who gathers over rubber and works down the mound. Eyes on target throughout his delivery and showed ability to repeat his delivery. 2 pitch pitcher who is developing arm strength and command. A long toss and J-band program would improve his arm strength and command. Right-handed hitter starts with an upright and square stance. Quiet eyes/head allow him to track pitches well and showed good knowledge of the strike zone. Good contact guy who doesn't give at-bats away. A young developing player who continues to improve every time we see him.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a lean 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2026. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He plays hard with a lot of energy. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 52-53 mph Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 5 years to further develop, Joseph has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
