12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Joseph is a 2024 C who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. Behind the plate, he has an easy sit, with a relaxed posture, and has a clean transfer. Works with good direction towards second base as he replaces his feet and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He had a recorded an arm velocity up to 77mph and a best pop time of 2.11 seconds. Does a good job of tucking his chin on his blocks. At the plate, he hits from a wide and square stance with high hands. He has good rhythm to his hands and takes a square glide step. Showed good barrel control as he hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph. In live game action, he reached base multiple times with a double, 2 singles, 2 base on balls, and reached on an error. With another year of growth and development, we foresee Joseph making huge strides on the baseball field.

11/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Delray Beach, FL Joseph is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2024. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.18 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 2 years to further develop, Joseph has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
