01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Joseph has a very desirable combination of defensive versatility up the middle and switch hitting ability. His active footwork and lateral agility give him plenty of range to make plays to both sides. He fields square with presented hands and has a quick exchange and release to throw and turn DP's. He showed a solid improvement in his arm strength, now coming in at 81 mph. At the plate, his hands work well from both sides with his middle approach to use all fields effectively. His lower body generates bat speed and he has a good feel for the barrel to square up the ball consistently. Joseph is a player that can contribute on any team.

07/24/2016 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared / athletic setup. He continues to show as a switch hitter, showing abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level / aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. With 4 years to further develop, Joseph has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Joseph continues to show improvement from outing to outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he is working through the baseball to make plays with a soft/sure glove and is throwing with momentum - by getting good angles around the ball. He worked to implement more pre-pitch footwork to anticipate the ball hit to him and get a better jump to improve range and fielding percentage. Offensively, the switch hitter showed strength from both sides with a short/direct path. He hit the ball where it was pitched with good barrel accuracy, and was very consistent when he landed softer on his front side (keeping his eyes and head level). Overall - Joseph hustles on the field, competes well, and has a promising future, as he has improved each time we have seen him.

09/29/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Charlotte, NC Joseph showed offensive improvements during his last workout in Fort Mill, NC. He raised both lefty and righty hitting numbers. He showed good balance, a level swing, and good bat speed. He has good barrel accuracy and he makes solid contact. In the INF, Joseph has efficient footwork, a controlled approach, and he fields in good rhythm. He has sure hands, fields low, and he throws with a free arm action to his target. He also significantly improved his 60 yard dash and his arm strength. He is as hard of a worker in our program and is very determined, so he will continue to improve as he matures.

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at the Yankees Training Complex Joseph continues to show solid fundamentals at the plate and in the field, and showed us improvements during this event. Defensively, Joseph shows a square/athletic fielding position with sure hands and active feet. He has shown improvement with his exchange to throw and will benefit by working on agility drills to improve his overall foot speed. At the plate, Joseph shows a good feel for both sides of the plate. He has a solid approach with good bat speed for his age. He shows a good load and level swing path. Joseph will improve his hitting grades and he learns to be softer with his stride foot, focusing on landing with his weight centered. Joseph shows the ability to make the adjustment but will need to work on it consistently. He has as good of a work ethic as you will see in a younger player.

09/08/2012 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a young player that showed great body control and good feel for fielding. His feet are active with sure hands and a good presentation of his glove. On balls right at him Joseph does a good job setting up in a strong fielding position but can work on getting better separation ( Right, Left, Field). He does a good job working around the ball and with better separation he will continue to improve working through the ball. Once he fields he has the tendency to stop and restart, taking his left foot in front of his right before he throws. Focus on stepping with your right foot through once fielding the ball. This will help with a quicker exchange instead of winding up before throwing. Another thing he can work on is the breakdown of his feet as he sets up for backhands. This will help control his body and work back inline with his target It will be important for Joseph to continue to focus on building arm strength and quickening his footwork as he physically matures and moves to the bigger diamond. With great fundamentals Joseph should turn out to be a solid player at the next level as he gets stronger.

07/25/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Greenville, SC Joseph is a young SS with a thin frame. Defensively, Joseph has sure hands, fluid / active feet, and he fields out in front. He plays through some, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Joseph has a square / athletic set-up, good balance, and a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, he swings a level bat, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Backhand
2. Quicken exchange
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Load
2. Shorten stride
3. Shorten swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
