12/02/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Lewiston, ME Joseph showed solid overall abilities and improvements in his game during his last workout with The Factory. He is a solid RHP who hits with power from the left side. On the mound, Joseph works in good tempo, he has a repeatable delivery, and keeps his eyes on target. He has good life out of his hand on his FB, solid glove side pull, and he uses his lower body. Joseph has athletic actions on the mound, competes in the zone, and finishes in a compete position. Working down in the zone and continuing to add arm strength will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Joseph has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and he uses his lower body. He swings on plane, makes square contact, and hits with strength in his swing.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Joseph is a solid, athletic RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable through a strong balance point. Fastball shows a range of 73-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range increasing as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Joseph has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
