11/20/2016 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Joseph has really improved his baseball abilities with a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.77 runner. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft /sure as he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He covers a ton of ground but needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he has improved the most, now showing well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a short / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he utilizes his lower half well with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. With 4 years to further develop, Joseph has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

09/27/2015 - Interactive Video Program - New Orleans, LA Joseph is an athletic 2-way player (SS/OF) who is very talented. Foot speed is outstanding as he runs his 60 in 6.78. With the bat, this RHH has an athletic/balanced setup with fluid rhythm in his hands. He gets good separation, whips the barrel with speed and connects with pop. At SS, Joseph has quick/active footwork as he moves well around the GB. He has plus lateral range, is sure handed and funnels smoothly. Transfer/exchange is clean with accurate throws across the diamond. In the OF, Joseph takes aggressive routes/angles to track down fly-balls in the gaps. He works behind the ball, secures it with 2 hands and gains ground through it in-line toward his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. Let ball travel deeper into the zone
3. More lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Glove presentation out in front
2. Footwork to backhand
Outfield
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Transfer/exchange

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
