07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through an aggressive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 61-64 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

05/07/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Bowie, MD Joseph is a tall and athletic SS/RHP who will be going into 7th grade this fall. Defensively at SS, feet are active as he takes solid routes to the ground ball. He plays through the ball and comes up with a clean exchange and accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this righty delivers from a 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. He keeps hitters guessing with his off speed pitches and commands his fastball in and around the zone. At the plate, Joseph uses a middle of the field approach. He takes aggressive hacks finding his barrel as he creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop soft hands
3. Smooth backhand
Pitching
1. Develop CH
2. Stronger frontside
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
