06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Joseph is a young 2B that worked hard to get better out in Omaha. In the field Joseph showed good glove technique and soft hands. His fielding position was athletic and gets rid of the ball with accurate throws. Working on being able to throw from different arm slots will help Joseph improve his game. At the plate Joseph sets up in a square stance with a short and soft stride. He has a firm front side with a compact and on plane swing. Building a stronger core will help Joseph create more consistency in his swing. Joseph shows a want to be better and works hard to do so.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Joe is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Joe takes a good first step and displays smooth footwork. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws with a quick arm and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Making a quicker exchange can help Joe improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Joe can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With four more years to develop, Joe has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
