Sinks his hips well to show flexible actions. Glove has pocket feel and he redirects the ball with a clean path. Throws the top of the baseball to register at 2.40 pop at 74 velo. Feeds are consistently on the bag and demonstrates the ability to shut down the run game. On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. Scouts were impressed with how far along he was with his off-speed command. His FB sat 72-4 with tailing movement. His cut FB moves well to his glove side and creates deception with his arm speed. His SL shaped 11-5 and was in the zone at 64. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance and stays in his legs. Hands are fast at 65 exit velo and he creates a strong finish from a direct barrel path. 12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Joseph is a 1B/RHP in the 2028 class. In the field, he has an athletic look and his feet are effective. He gains a low fielding position and his hands are soft. His exchanges are clean and uses a short arm action from a ¾ slot. Overall, Joseph is a versatile player who can also play OF and catch.

10/30/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Joseph is an athletic C/1B/RHP who will graduate in 2028. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner and improve lateral movement. Pop times showed in 2.69 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-64 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Joseph has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
