Official Scouting Report

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Joseph is a very athletic 2020 OF/RHP. Defensively, he is very agile , takes a good first step, present his glove well and works with good technique. Tracks the ball well and exchanges cleanly with a quick release to deliver strong throws (85mph Arm Velocity) to his targets. On the mound, has a good idea of how he likes to operate, gets ahead of hitters with a 80-83 mph Fastball with cut action and good command. Mixes in a Slider (65-70 mph) with some break but commands well, but keeps hitters off balance with a deceptive and hard sinking Changeup (69-73 mph). Had a nice outing, striking out 6 hitters in 3 IP and surrendering only 1 hit. Offensively, Joseph has nice loose hands and a quick bat through the zone. Stays compact and delivers hard contact (91 mph Bat Exit Velocity). Works with a line-drive approach.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Joseph continues to show as prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips (83 mph velocity) throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A RHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving (84 mph exit velocity) all parts of the field.

07/10/2017 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Joseph is an athletic RHP/OF who will graduate in 2020 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential with an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he continues to shine as he displays smooth clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Joseph has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
