08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Joseph showed well both on the mound and at 3B during his time in Pirate City. He has sharp control on the hill, he works quickly, and sets up hitters well. He has good direction toward home, a controlled landing, and a complete finish. At 3B, Joseph gets in a good ready position, hands and feet play well, and he makes plays with a consistent arm across the diamond. Offensively, Joseph has an open stance, he swings in good rhythm, and can hit to all fields. He keeps his head on the ball, makes square contact, and hits with strength to the pull side.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Joseph is a talented RHP/3B prospect who has a tall, athletic build and graduates in 2020. On the mound, Joseph pitches with good tempo and repeats his delivery filling up the strike zone. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from an over the top arm slot with a quick arm action. He keeps his eyes on his target and engages his lower half. Joseph is deceptive showing great command with his fastball and late breaking curveball. Offensively, Joseph has a square stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Joseph has fast bat speed with a direct swing path producing consistent contact. He is a line drive type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. At the hot corner, Joseph works hard and plays with an aggressive approach as he attacks the baseball. He does a nice job funneling the baseball and shows an effective backhand. Joseph throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Joseph has a versatile, talented skill set with a good approach giving him a bright future on the diamond.

02/20/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Joseph is a tall, lanky RHP/3B and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he as he displays clean actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 69-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Joseph has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
